The World Economic Forum's Gender Gap Report 2025 estimates it will take 123 more years to close the global gender gap fully.
At the current rate, the 123-year estimate is based on a broader analysis of all 148 economies included in the 2025 index, reflecting slower overall progress, particularly in countries where parity has stagnated or declined.
India now ranks 131 out of 148 countries in the report. The most significant setbacks are economic participation and political empowerment — areas closest to home in the lives of girls and women we work with daily.
In 2025, India Slips in Global Gender Parity, but We Can't Afford to Wait Another 123 Years to Close the Gap. To bridge this, real change should start in overlooked places like rural classrooms, village corners, and homes without internet.
At Stemsup Education & Environment Foundation, we see these numbers not just as a statistic but as a call to action. That's where we are building something different; through our flagship project, Thuir'Tech, we are opening up digital learning centres to access digital and financial literacy, equitable education, and leadership & green skills training for girls who might otherwise be left behind.
It's not just about teaching; it's about ensuring they have the tools to lead, decide, and thrive. The report says it could take over a century to close the gender gap.
We are not willing to wait that long. Starting today, we can shift that timeline with the right support and guidance.
If you are passionate about gender equity and believe in grassroots action, we invite you to support, mentor, or collaborate with us. Your time, resources, and voice can help accelerate this change, not in 2125 but right now.
Let's build a future where "No One is Left Behind and Everyone Is Empowered To Learn."
